NATALIA'S JOURNAL😎

During the first couple comp sci classes we ahve learned how to do some basic things. We intially downloaded sublime text which is where we can add stuff to our websites. We have an index page, a journal page, and a projects page which I will be adding to as soon as we start something in class. I love comp sci so far!

This week we've only had one comp sci class because we had a day off yesterday. I learned how to use the .button function in Sublime Text. I made my background lavender and my text white. Miya is helping me because sometimes I am a little confused but she keeps me on track! I want to add some shapes in my background which would be very cute. I am trying to make my website look cuter but there are many different things I could do so it is hard to choose. I hope that it will be more appealing in a couple of days because right now it looks hella ugly.

Today in class, we learmed how to open a console and we started using JavaScript. We learned about what a string is and we also watched catdog. Also we messed around with variables. We watched Rocko's Modern Life and the music is kind of good to be honest. I am working on my animation but I am legit confused so I am asking Miya for help.

Hi! I just finished making a CodeSketch on my page. Everytime you click around a star gif pops up. I added it to my projects page but I still have to write on the page: "Click around for a surprise". Now I will list some key vocabulary. A variable is a storage location in JavaScript. In a variable you can store code that happens when you run it. A function has to have an input and an output. A function is a group of statements that performs some task. A string is a sequence of characters. For example, "Natalia" is a sequence of n, a, t, a, l, i, a. A number in coding is

An Event Listener is a way that makes it so when you click around the page, the code that you have runs or an action happens. Events are actions that are happening in the code and the system tells you what is happening in your code so you can change it or make it different. To show up in the console are double click and press inspect and you click the screen and these numbers come up. To get it into the console you have to write add.EventListener.

In class today I finished a square quilt project. On it I added some smiley faces to make it more customized and cute! I hope you enjoy it. I could add any image on the boxes to make them customizable. I am going to make another right now. I also helped Mack with a project we did while she was not here so she could be caught up.

Over the weekend I completed 2 full projects. I did my array with a slot machine. I pulled all the pictures I used to my desktop and changed the names to "something.png" to make everything easier and more organized. The slot machine used a lot of if/else statements which are basically when if the user does something, their is another output. The code will execute only if some specific condition is true. I also made a thank you page for my friends and even added a little yankees logo that moves around when you click the page. I added an event listener to say how much and where the yankees logo will move to. To check out these projects, go to my projects page!

Hello! It has been a while since I have written a journal entry because I have a concussion which is lowkey annoying because I cannot play volleyball or do any tests in school so I feel like I am falling really behind and it is starting to stress me out. I finished my valentines project so I am happy. I have yet to finish my phone project. I will check back in later.

I made a cookie decorator as project this week for rhw decorator game. It was fun making it. When you click on the toppings and then click on the cookie the topping will paste on. There are a bunch of different toppings you can use for this project and I hope you enjoy and that this does not make you that hungry.

Today was our last comp sci class and I am pretty sad about it! I loved comp sci this year and I am so happy that I chose to do this course. My favorite project was probably my thank you friends project. All my projects are linked on the projects page of my website so you can see my final presentation as well as all the other projects I have done this year there.
